This is my testimony - my testimony of faith and lack thereof; of the rising and falling of hopes and dreams; of beliefs and disbelief's; of tremendous heartache and human folly; of reaching out and stepping out when all I want at times is to is pull back and step away. At the age of 30 I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological condition called Post-traumatic Syringomyelia (PTS). Please visit my post on PTS. One of my goals is to increase awareness of this terminal condition. Broken to Grace is not yet released. Follow this blog to receive an email when the final release date is announced. What's with missing the calls....?

http://rondafranklinbrokentograce.blogspot.com/ Broken to Grace - A novel & Memoirs

Publisher called my cell phone twice and my home phone twice, in a matter of 10 minutes. I wasn't home, and my cell phone was flashing red with a dying battery as I was standing in Starbucks at 2:30 while he was calling. I got home at 4:15 to 2 messages on my home phone. "Hi Ronda, this is Jeff calling again from WestBow Press/Thomas Nelson Publishing. Just trying to reach you again one last time before I leave the office for the day. Please call me back at...."

Won't you join me as I pray continually before I call them back tomorrow morning? And breathe, Ronda....God is good, all knowing, all sufficient...it is already written in His book.

God bless,
Ronda

  2. Hey Diane!

I'm actually not frustrated, strangely. I get the night to relax and pray and listen to God, and let Him calm me before I call Jeff back in the morning. Really what I'm feeling is nervous. I hope the call puts me at ease - I think no matter what happens, just knowing what they have to tell me will be a load off.

Thank you for praying with me. I love you!

  3. Make him think you're playing hard-to-get, and that there are 7 other publishers trying to land your book! Just kidding....
These things all happen for a reason, as you well know.
Just remember the words of the lovely and wise Eleanor Roosevelt, when you're feeling helpless or hopeless: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. <3

  4. Amen Morine!
And even though you say "just kidding" on playing hard to get...how do you think I kept his interest spiking when he was first trying to reach me before we ever spoke? I waited four days before I took his calls. But honestly, even that didn't start out as a plan - I truly did miss the first call. The next three days were planned...I just wasn't ready. And when I did talk with him our first conversation was great and productive and I was prepared.
That is how I believe I will feel tomorrow morning. He's been trying to reach me this time since Friday afternoon...it's time to talk!
Of course, he could be reading this blog...Hi Jeff! (ha!)

Thank you ladies for your words of encouragement - they are so, well, encouraging - and truly do help.

It is time for rest .... tomorrow is a new day that God has prepared already.

    Good night!

  5. I don't like games of cat and mouse. I don't have time in my life for games - Thomas Nelson either picks up my book, or I move on to another publisher - or start by self-publishing and re-gain complete control! I think he was a bit put-off by my not taking 6 of his phone calls in a row - oops. Like I said, I didn't miss them on purpose...it's business - and I was busy & had a dead cell phone.
Once he realized I wasn't going to "play", he asked to set up another meeting. Time to buckle down again and finish this final edit. Because no matter what - with or without Thomas Nelson Publishing behind me, I'm moving forward! =*)

  7. ...OK, then there's that sugary-sweet little ditty sung by Doris Day (sing it with me): "Que sera, sera! Whatever will be, will be!"

Didn't that make you smile just a little bit?

Here's the thing, sweetheart: essentially, YOU have what THEY want. Which puts you in a position of "power" -- not to be nasty or play headgames, of course, but to be the person in control. It's YOUR book, YOUR words, YOUR LIFE. You will know, deep within your heart and soul, when it feels right -- for YOU. Before you speak with Jeff, gather yourself -- your thoughts, goals, emotions and confidence. Write some key words on a piece of paper in front of you...what you want, why you want it, words of encouragement and praise from others. Then take a deep cleansing breath. It'll come together as it's supposed to. ;-)

And I did giggle singing that song with you! Love it!
    God bless you,
    Ronda
